Jacksons Food Stores Gives the Gift of Peace – The Idaho Partners Against Domestic Violence and Jacksons Food Stores announced today that the Give the Gift of Peace Dove Campaign raised $50,539 for programs addressing domestic violence in Idaho. Even during difficult economic times, Jacksons Food Stores customers donated over $25,269 in one dollar donations during the month of December 2008 to go towards the prevention of domestic violence and teen dating violence through community awareness programs and the provision of free legal services for victims of domestic violence and their children. John D. Jackson, CEO of Jacksons Food Stores, generously matched the customer donations for a total contribution of $50,539.

Bronco Athletic Association - Jacksons donated $65,000 in support of the Boise State Broncos last year. We have pledged a total of $250,000 to the creation of the “Jacksons Track”, the largest indoor track in the Pacific Northwest and the only championship track suitable for world class indoor track and field in the west. This facility is located in Nampa, Idaho and provides our athletes with a place to train and compete indoors.

St. Alphonsus- Great communities always have great medical institutions as part of their foundations. That’s why Jacksons continues to support the St. Alphonsus Foundation with a gift $25,000 in 2006. This fund raising arm supports advance healing at St Al’s Foundation. As our community continues to grow so does its health care needs, that’s why Jacksons stands as a partner with St. Alphonsus.

Albertson College of Idaho - Jacksons is aware of the importance of strong Universities and Colleges in Idaho. That’s why we have participated in “The Boone Fund” with a gift of $10,000 to support on going operating needs for Albertson College of Idaho. We are proud to partner with other businesses and alumni to benefit this great institution.

Susan G. Komen Boise Race for the Cure - Jacksons, along with strong supporter Chevron, partnered with the Susan G. Komen Boise Race for the Cure, a cause that helped raise $20,000 for the foundation. The Race for the Cure funds help with the expanded screening, education, and treatment of breast cancer.

St. Jude Children’s Hospital - Jacksons Food Stores with the help of our customers donated $13,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in 2005. St. Jude is unlike any other pediatric treatment and research facility anywhere. Discoveries made here have completely changed how the world treats children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. St. Jude is where some of today's most gifted researchers are able to do more science, more quickly. Where doctors across the world send their toughest cases and most vulnerable patients. Where no one pays for treatment beyond what is covered by insurance, and those without insurance are never asked to pay. They have built America's 3rd-largest health-care charity, with a model that keeps the costs down and the funds flowing, so the science never stops. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases. Founded by the late entertainer Danny Thomas and based in Memphis, TN., St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities throughout the world. Jacksons is proud to be part of this cause.

Owyhee County Historical Museum – In 2006, Jacksons donated $20,000 to the Owyhee County Historical Museum. The funds were used in the museum’s 6,400 square food expansion that was recently completed. The Museum’s purpose is to investigate and reserve for future generations any kind of historical records, documents, sites building, articles, oral histories and artifacts pertaining to Owyhee County, to provide a library and museum complex, to promote interests in and a concern for Owyhee County history. The museum is located in Murphy, Idaho the county seat of Owyhee County. John Jackson, CEO, is a native of Owyhee County having grown up in the largest city in Owyhee County, Homedale.

Idaho Humane Society - For several years, Jacksons has been a key sponsor for the Idaho Humane Society’s fundraiser “See Spot Walk”. Donations help with the placement of thousands of dogs, cats, and other domestic pets in loving homes every year. In addition to our sponsorship, we have also been the “spot” to go to pick up pledge forms.

Boise Art Museum - Jacksons has supported the Boise Art Museum’s (BAM) largest fundraising event “Art in the Park” by participating in a joint donation with other sponsors for the raffle of a Ford Explorer in 2004. Over $4,700 was donated. BAM plays a leadership role in the cultural life of its community through a growing Permanent Collection which focuses on regional and national artwork, nationally acclaimed exhibitions and an education program that reaches more than 13,000 students each year.

Boise Philharmonic - The Boise Philharmonic is Idaho’s largest and oldest performing arts organization. They perform for over 50,000 people annually. The Boise Philharmonic maintains a vast array of educational programs, including classes for young children, Sounds Like Fun! concerts for young families, the Treasure Valley Youth Symphony, the Musical Movies Project featuring silent films accompanied by the Treasure Valley Youth Symphony at the Egyptian Theatre, and the annual Children’s Concerts with full symphony orchestra performing for 14,000 schoolchildren in 8 free performances. Jacksons believes in community involvement which is the reason behind the support of the Boise Philharmonic. A donation total of over $5,300 was made in 2005.

American Heart Association – Cardiovascular disease is the No. 1 killer of American men and women. Jacksons has supported the scientific research, education and programs in our communities. In 2004, Jacksons provided $6,500 in support of this cause.

Valley Initiative for Prosperity – Jacksons has been a key supporter of our community’s advancement. In 2006, Jacksons donated $10,000 to the Valley Initiative for Prosperity. This donation’s goal is to market the Treasure Valley to relocation experts used by companies interested in moving to new cities promote the positives with the goal of bringing high paying jobs to Idaho’s Treasure Valley.
